This is the first ever Revelation Records release and it was also my first ever Revelation (REV) release to put into my collection.Small back-story - Rev was started by Jordan Cooper and Ray Cappo in 1987 in New York. They went on to release the who’s who of the hardcore scene at the time. Over a period of 3 years they had put out over 23 releases, including the first ever Sick of It All release, Judge – Bringing it down LP, Gorilla Biscuits – Start today lp and many more. As this was the first ever release done by Rev, not everything came out perfect. They had to get help from Kevin Seconds who ran Positive Force records and Kane from BYO records. The recording was sent to Kane at BYO records, who also worked in a pressing plant. Kane then mastered the recording and then pressed the record, he certainly pressed the record, but I’m not sure how much work went into mastering the recording!

When someone says Straight Edge Hardcore, the glory days of bands like Minor Threat, and Gorilla Biscuits pop in to my head. However that statement is usually followed by someone talking about the newst metallic 'Beat you face in if you don't believe what we do' hardcore band. So when one of my friends was rambling on about this band called Champion, and saying they reminded him of Youth of Today, Judge, and other punk influenced hardcore bands, I decided you check them out. After listening to one of their songs on Bridge Nine's website(The label that released 'Promises Kept')I decided to pick this album up. There's no room for interpretation here.

This isn't the sound of a hardcore band bending over backwards to appeal to a new audience. These aren't a bunch of guys trying to put in a little something for everyone. There are no games being played and there are no gimmicks being sold. This is Terror doing what they do best; you either get it or you don't.Terror was and is a very important part of the legendary axe that carved out the groove between thrash metal and hardcore in the earliest of the 2000s. With notoriously ferocious live shows and an uncompromising barrage of releases, these guys made a name for themselves quickly. Since then, the concept of melding the two genres has become the cheap schizophrenic whore of underground music that bears little resemblance to what we'd like to remember it as. That is, until we pop this in.Terror have earned their title as Keepers of the Faith, preserving the scene and the sound they hold so dear.

These 13 tracks are an austere and angry release true to their original mission statement. Scott Vogel returns with venomous anthems of determination, brotherhood and fearless independence. When things are done this well, I find this genre to be among my favorites. While musically, the wheel hasn't been re-invented on KotF, these tracks are far from mundane. Terror knows the tricks of the trade and employs a great deal of them to keep the listener engaged while envisioning a utterly terrified bouncer as he copes with a surreal chaos he's more worried about surviving than containing. Thrash riffs, thunderous sing-along parts, well placed breakdowns and the occasional guitar lead make up the list of usual suspects we've come to know and love. Sound quality here is top notch and the studio magic is kept at the level it needs to be in order to prevent things from feeling overproduced.Keepers of the Faith is a snap shot of a band who has risen to the highest ranks of hardcore and is intent on keeping it real. If you know what Terror is all about, you know what to expect.

If you don't know Terror, well then, maybe it's time you get acquainted. The street cred and rock solid integrity here is preserved and the faith is well kept. Things are summed up well by Vogel himself on the closing track, Terror has 'nothing to prove to you, or anybody else'.01 - Your Enemies Are Mine02 - Stick Tight03 - Return To Strength04 - The Struggle05 - Shattered06 - You?re Caught07 - Dead Wrong08 - Keepers Of The Faith09 - Stay Free10 - Hell And Back11 - Only Death12 - The New Blood13 - Defiant14 - T.T.I.H.
